As the publication date (November) for my novel, The Muse, draws nearer, the marketing push is beginning to accelerate. My publisher’s got the manuscript ready for the printer, is just about complete on the front and back cover design, and we’ve farmed out some advance review copies, both for feedback and to collect some one-liners we can incorporate into the back-cover blurb and other marketing materials. In another week day(!) or two, the cover art and first chapter should be available for public viewing.
There’s also a video trailer for the book, which you can watch here or here. Now, Splashdown Books is a small (but very enthusiastic) indie press, just starting up, so the budget for multimedia marketing is tiny. That said, I think the result is pretty impressive for an in-house production aided by friends and volunteers–and how many book trailers include locations in both the U.S. and New Zealand?
Anyhow, I think it captures the mood of the story while providing a quick introduction, and I hope it will make people curious to find out more. Take a look, and if you like it (or even if you don’t), let us know here or at the Splashdown Books blog.
If you enjoyed the music, here’s a link to the website of our composer, Michael Rogers, where you’ll find a lot more of his work.
