Submissions are still dragging this month. A lot of my time went into novel-editing, networking, critiquing, and book reviewing. It’s all writing, and that’s good, but I don’t want the short-story writing to fall by the wayside.
I did write two new stories this month and began work on my second novel, plus, a couple of stories I’ve had in the critique cycle are ready to polish for publication, so next month should be better. I’ve got high hopes for the submitted stories awaiting responses.
I really shouldn’t be grumbling at all, though. On the plus side, and it’s a big plus, “The Time Share” was accepted for publication by Brain Harvest, and “One Smile at a Time” was accepted for publication by MindFlights! Any month I sell multiple stories is a good month, no matter what else is going on.
And no rejections this month. Huzzah!
The March Scoreboard:
2 Mar: 11-day acceptance from Brain Harvest for “The Time Share”
4 Mar: submitted “An Eternal, Unbroken Chain” to Asimov’s
8 Mar: submitted “One Smile at a Time” to MindFlights
25 Mar: 17-day acceptance from MindFlights for “One Smile at a Time”
Still awaiting responses from Tower of Light Fantasy for “The Curse,” Doorways Magazine for “Prison Dreams,” Flash Fiction Online for “A Quiet Afternoon at the Alabaster County Ladies’ Sewing Circle and Patchwork Society,” Escape Clause for “At My Table,” and Every Day Fiction for “A charl13brn Turing Test.”
